Restoring a historic building in the heart of Barolo means engaging in a dialogue with its soul. A radical functional inversion was carried out within, adapting it to a contemporary style without betraying its character. The heart of the house, the living area, was moved to the upper floor to connect it directly to the terrace.

This conservative restoration has transformed a traditional building into a modern and functional residence through targeted interventions.

The living area was relocated to the top floor, creating a large open-plan space with direct access to the terrace. The lower floors were converted into a sleeping area, while the semi-basement was renovated to accommodate new comfortable spaces.

To meet modern living standards, structural works were carried out, including the replacement of floor slabs and roof insulation, significantly improving the building’s energy performance.

Every external intervention, from the creation of new openings to the addition of a balcony, was performed in full respect of tradition. The use of local materials, such as Piedmontese clay roof tiles, wood, and stone, ensures perfect harmony between the new functionality and the historic soul of the building.
